The winch was used in cars in the true sense since the Willis MB in World War II. After the United States entered the war, in the open desert battlefields of North Africa, it often fell into bunkers or shell pits. In addition, the body was heavy and the rescue method was very difficult. !
Therefore, the U.S. military began to apply the winch to the car for self-rescue. The original car winch was a steel wire rope tied to the body before it began to use the motor to have the real self-rescue function!
After World War II, the winch was highly sought after by off-road fans, and it is also one of the must-have tools for off-road vehicle modification today!
Winch working mechanism
The electric power from the car first drives the motor, and then the motor drives the drum to rotate, the drum drives the driving shaft,
and the driving shaft drives the planetary gears to generate powerful torque. Subsequently, the torque is transmitted back to the drum, and the drum drives the winch.
There is a clutch between the motor and the reducer, which can be opened and closed by a handle. The brake unit is inside the drum. When the noose is tightened,
the drum is automatically locked.
